Grab Your Swimsuit & Sunscreen

When this post publishes, my boys and I will be high over the Pacific bound for the Big Island of Hawaii.

Hawaii is where I was born and raised and where my parents still live. I haven't been back for three years. This trip is long overdue. We lament that Dad couldn't make it, but someone's got to stay home and shovel the snow (thanks honey!).

Knowing I would miss my husband and my dear readers terribly, I have decided to you bring you along—virtually at least.

For the next three weeks I will blog from Hawaii. I plan to allow the activities of my days to inspire my posts and will guarantee you a peek at the Hawaii I love. The people, the culture, the food, the sights.

So put on that swimsuit, slather on some sunscreen, slip into your flip-flops (aka "slippas") and let's go!

The Hamakua Coast | Protea flowers mom grows | The neighbor's sheep [cute!] | Drying macadamia nuts | Waipio Valley | Hawaii Preparatory Academy horse round-up | Wild horses in Waipio | Mom and dad's front yard | Surf's up!

Yay! Welcome home! There has been beautiful weather the past week, so hopefully it will carry on while you are here. :) It's been kind of a wet winter but I'm sure even that is better than the snow!

Oh, Lex, you're a doll for bringing us along! And, no jet lag when "we" return either. ;-) Beautiful, enticing photos, so I'm glad I'm going! Can't wait to see what you share!

I've got my bag packed and I'm ready to go! I'll enjoy living vicariously through you these next few weeks. It will be a welcome diversion from this winter wonderland of snowy weather.

Oh jealous! I can't wait to see what beautiful pictures you post and what delicious food you eat while there.

Lexie, I'm a fairly new follower of your blog and have to say I love following you! I'm jealous that you are headed to HI! My daughter and her family live on Oahu and I just love it there ... I could easily up and move to the islands!
Have a wonderful time and post lots of pics!

Oh, Lexie, I will look forward to each new blog entry. My husband and I were married on the island of Oahu (23 years this June) at Waimea Falls Park. We've never been back and would love to go with our children. I'll live through you for now. No bikini for me this time:) Have a wonderful trip - Aloha!

I can't wait to see the food you find there. I was lucky enough to go to Maui and Oahu a couple of years ago for the pro Bowl. Are you going to the game this weekend? I still get the Maui magazine delivered to me. Miss it. Lucky you got to grow up there.

Hey if you need some help in the kitchen, just let me know and I'm happy to fly over.
